Buying School Uniform

NEW

To keep uniform cost to a minimum, most items can be bought from a supermarket.

Items marked with an asterisk (*) can be purchased with the school logo from Prestige Design & Workwear in Flitwick High Street or online from Price & Buckland. Supermarket items without the school logo are equally acceptable.

PRE-LOVED

The Maulden School Association (MSA) holds a stock of preloved uniform which can be purchased from one of our termly sales events.   We strongly encourage you preloved uniform where possible, as it is more environmentally friendly, cheaper for you and also helps to raise funds for the school.

If you wish to donate clean school uniform in good condition, please contact the school office.

Hair and Accessories

Jewellery should not be worn to school as it can cause anxiety if lost and can be dangerous if worn during PE.  If your child has pierced ears, studs should be worn rather than hoops and must be removed for PE.  If your child is unable to remove their own earrings for PE, they should not be worn to school on these days.

Hair must be clean and tidy with long hair tied back for all lessons.  Plain, unadorned hair bands/ headbands and religious head coverings only are allowed.  If a hairstyle is considered unsuitable the school will ask for this to be rectified.

Nail varnish and temporary tattoo transfers are not allowed. If these have been worn during weekends/holidays, they must be removed before returning to school.

Bags

Only a flat, school book bag must be bought into school.   The space in class cloakroom areas is restricted and not designed to accommodate backpacks.  School book bags fit into your child’s tray and are the correct shape to prevent damage to school books and homework.

Pupils taking part in after school clubs and swimming lessons may bring their kit in a separate named drawstring bag.

Labelling

Please ensure all clothing and possessions are clearly named.   Lost property will be displayed on the front playground at the end of each term; if not claimed, it will be disposed of.
