Maulden Lower School Provision for children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
At Maulden Lower School, we believe that parent and pupil partnership is key to supporting a child's needs and this is particularly true where children may have special educational needs and disabilities. In the first instance, any concerns regarding your child's learning will be discussed with the class teacher, who will work with the support of the school SENDCo to identify ways to meet those needs including possible adaptations to their learning. Individual targets will be set with appropriate provision and adaptations provided in order to meet these targets, all of which will be regularly assessed and reviewed with staff, parents and pupils in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice's Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach.

Speech & Language Therapy Services (SaLT)
The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service works across the whole county of Bedfordshire and Luton providing help in both the community (health centres, schools & pre-schools) as well as in hospital settings. They treat children up to the age of 16 years (up to 19 years in special education), who have difficulty with communication or swallowing.
This brand new website offers expert advice and support for families of children with speech and language difficulties in Luton and Bedfordshire. Service is provided in a number of ways, depending on need. This may be for example individual or group treatment, parent/carer workshops and drop-in clinics. Please speak to your child's class teacher to discuss any concerns, as well as referring to the information on this website:

Autism Bedfordshire is a voluntary organisation in the county that is specialised in supporting autistic adults and children. They offer practical advice, information and emotional support to families so that they will be better equipped to cope with and care for their autistic children and any other siblings. They offer training sessions, short breaks and respite, as well as helpful advice to families of children with Autistic Spectrum Condition.
